We left Corfu today and headed back to the mainland.  We made a stop at Dodona in Epirus.  It is the site of the oracle of Dione and Zeus.  The oracle was an oak tree.  Priests would interpret the rustling of the leaves, the sound of the birds in the trees, in addition to the sound of metal pottery attached to the tree in order to provide a yes or no answer to the questions visitors had inscribed on a small metal plate.

A parliament building was also at the site along with a large (about 17,000 seat) theater.  When the Romans occupied the territory, they removed the first four row of seats for gladiator contests.  The gladiators would fight either wild boar or bulls.

We then drove to the city of Ioannina.  Yianni took us for a ride to show us the beauty of the Greek mountains.

This bridge was discovered in 1750.  No one is sure when it was actually constructed.

We also went to Vikos Gorge which is the largest gorge in the world.

On our way back down the Konitsa Mountain, we stopped at a restaurant in a small village.  The food and view were great.  The buildings in the village are all constructed from stone - all exterior facades and roofs.
